Babysitting Activities

Babysitting is a big responsibility but that doesn't mean it can't also be fun.
Sometimes, the hardest thing about it is coming up with ideas of fun things to do.
There are lots of different activities that are just right for any age. Why not give these a try the next time you're babysitting and don't have a clue what to do?

Let us know which ones are your favorites and were the most fun for the children you babysat. And, if you have any other ideas for activities, please share them with us. Your ideas may end up posted on our website!

Obstacle Course(Toddlers, Preschool, and School Age)

obstacle-Dec2011Materials Needed:

  • Pillows, rolled-up towels
  • Tables and chairs

Procedure:

  1. Roll up towels and prop them against chairs or tables to form a wall.
  2. Using the walls, arrange the chairs and tables to make a maze.
  3. Put pillows on the floor to create "stepping stones" or the obstacles.
  4. Play Follow the Leader with the children while traveling through the maze.  Have the children hop or crawl over the obstacles.  You can change the leader each time you travel through the maze.
  5. Be creative as the children are traveling through the maze - have them travel as dogs, sheep, or cars.  Have fun!
