Qualifications for Safe Sitter® Instructors
- Willing to teach only under the direction of a Safe Sitter®
Site Coordinator at a registered Safe Sitter® teaching site.
- Committed to preparing young adolescents for the profound
responsibilities
of nurturing and protecting children.
- Enjoy teaching young adolescents and acting as a role
model.
- At least 18 years of age with high school diploma or
GED.
- Completion of Safe Sitter® Instructor training.
- Committed to teaching at least 1 course per year,
preferably 2 or more.
- At least 2 years of paid or volunteer experience in nursing,
medicine, respiratory therapy, emergency services, health
education, early childhood education, youth work or child care
experience including parenting.
To teach or test choking rescue
sections:
- Anyone who teaches or tests the choking rescue sections of the
Safe Sitter® course will be current in any CPR course that requires
a minimum of a skills performance test of infant and child
CPR such as Heartsaver® CPR AED (American Heart
Association).
To teach or test CPR sections:
- Anyone who teaches or tests the CPR sections of the Safe
Sitter® course will be current in any CPR Instructor course
OR will be a Safe Sitter® Instructor who meets the
qualifications to teach the choking rescue sections and uses the
Safe Sitter® CPR Video to teach.
