Kristin's  family of Dallas, Texas, considers the Safe Sitter® class that Kristin took two years ago a very valuable
investment.
Eleven year-old Kristin saved the life of her younger sister, Kelsey, when she choked on an orange peel on the way to basketball practice. Kristin’s lifesaving use of the Heimlich Maneuver was taught to her in her Safe Sitter® class.
Kristin recognized that it was time to act when she realized that her sister’s coughing became a “gasping sound.” Kristin reacted immediately and kept her composure, skills which are emphasized by Safe Sitter®.
Kristin’s father, who was driving the vehicle the girls were riding in, was astounded at Kristin’s calmness. “It was amazing. By the time I got around to open the door, my daughter had taken care of the situation. The orange came flying out, thanks to her skills. She was so calm— I was more frantic than she was.”
